Our story

My name is Diana, I come from Ukraine from a small picturesque seaside town of Kherson. I have a wonderful beloved husband, his name is Yevhenii. In my home country, at the moment, there is a full-scale war waged by russia against Ukraine. My city of Kherson was almost immediately occupied during several weeks of hardest battles.

Having lived for a long time in the occupation for more than two months, it became more and more difficult and dangerous to stay every day. After we saw the russian soldiers almost at the threshold of our home, we made a difficult decision for ourselves that we should try to leave our native occupied city, despite the great risks.

After a terrible and difficult journey, which was filled with mass checks by russian soldiers of our personal belongings and searches, we still managed to leave safe and sound. We had to go through these checks at more than 20 russian military checkpoints...

My husband's mother's partner is a Turkish citizen, so the four of us came to his house in Istanbul. Later, over time, my husband was offered a job in his specialty in UK. My husband was very happy that he could again do his favorite thing - the development of electronics for agriculture, he has been doing this continuously for more than 8 years. In order to come to Great Britain, we needed a sponsor for the visa scheme of the House for Ukrainians.

Since my husband's office and place of work is located in the center of Stockport, we immediately began looking for a sponsor in local communities on Facebook. The result was not long in coming and in two days we had several offers from the kind people of Stockport who were ready to become our sponsors under the visa program of the House for Ukrainians. We were very pleasantly surprised by the number of comments and likes under our post in the Everything Stockport group. Everyone wished us good luck, empathized with our situation and offered their help upon our arrival in Great Britain.

We were helped a lot by our sponsor, her name is Catherine, she is the Minister of the Stockport Methodist Church. And after a tiring wait, we were finally sent our official permission to arrive in the United Kingdom. We are very grateful to Catherinefor her support and assistance. We will remember all our lives the help and support of the people of Britain and its government for its assistance to the Ukrainian people and our country. Real partners and friends are known in such situations!

Our sponsor Catherine is a wonderful person who always helps us with advice and supports us morally. If not for her and her help, perhaps we would not have been able to start our journey to the UK.

We always really like to do something with our own hands, since I myself am a cook and pastry chef, and my husband is an electronics designer, who also collects some of his own electronic things all the time.

I worked for some time in a small children's clothing store, but, unfortunately, it closed and I was left without a job. As soon as I arrived in Stockport, I started taking English courses, which I still have difficulty with. And finding a job without knowing the language in your cooking specialty has become a difficult task.

After some time living in Stockport and walking around Manchester, my husband and I fell in love with candles, which are very popular here and have a very rich assortment.

And we really wanted to try to make something that would be natural, something of our own, that would give joy and create comfort in English homes. And so, the idea of ​​DiCandels was born - Handmade ECO candles made with love. All of our candles are handmade. We make each new candle with great passion and love. All our candles have an author's and unique design, and the fragranced oils of our candles will fill your home with an amazing aroma, creating coziness and a great mood in your home. When creating our candles, we use only organic and natural ingredients. You will never find paraffin or synthetic components in our candles.
